Welcome

Can you believe it? A bottle
of wine with a Dachshund on the label? Well it's true. Eugenio Collavini in Italy makes
it!
So do you need help with you
Dachshund? This
CDROM reports to offer all the advice and information you'll
ever need. Don't know if it's true though.
While
I have seen that General Tire had used Dachshund in print ads
before (look on page 1), I'm starting to think that the
president must have had Dachshunds. I found
another ad with Dachshunds!
Do you remember or know of
Paddlefoot? It was a TV show from the 1950's/60's made by
Cambria Studio Production.
The
image is a copy of an original drawing from the series. The
series was produced in the same limited illustrative art style
and using the famed "Syncro-Vox" process where live action
mouths were superimposed on the animated characters. These are
the people that did "Space Angel and Captain Fathom" too.
Many
people use search engines like
www.google.ca
(not-com)to find pages and info on-line. Try searching Google for "wiener
dogs" and you'll see that my site is number one! On August
17th I was number 1 of about 388,000! Not bad for a
simple website, eh? If you use Google and search for
"dachshund", I'm number 3 of 27,500,000!
I
have to give a special than you to Ingrid Wensveen from the
Netherlands. She has informed me that there is a site on the Web
that shows you
how to make your own stuffed Dachshund Toy!
What
about another Origami Dachshund? I've seen others and I don't
know how to make it, but it this one sure looks cool. This
sample was made by John Montroll. It's the best one I've ever
seen.

I have a bunch of Dachshund collectables, but only one plate.
Charlotte Estabrooks on the other hand as 12; part of a complete
set.
Here's a sample of ten of them. The other two are in a
separate holder.
In the strange but true category... Since I first put my website
online I have had many visitors, one person in fact liked my
dogs so much that
he
put my dogs on a stamp! Fake stamps mind you, but stamps just
the same... Wonder if I get royalties? My dogs are at the bottom
middle.
In case you missed it in the magazine bin at your local
antique store,
Colliers had a Dachshund on the cover in 1934.
Pop
Art is one of those like it or hate it kind of things. Here's an
example by
Vern. It's a Dachshund in a martini glass. Her does other
dogs types too.
Man Ray, American Dadaist/Surrealist Photographer and
Painter, captured this image in the 1920s of a topless woman and
Dachshunds. While not obscene, it is a nude. Keep that in mind
before
follow this link.
The
Italian Dachshund Club, otherwise known as Amici Del Bassotto
Club, has medals honouring their best show dogs. Here's a
snapshot of just one of them.
Sure Disney's Pluto is a famous
dogs, but what about Dinah the
Dachshund?
Dinah is a fictional character created by the Disney Company and
she appears as Pluto's girlfriend in a number of cartoons,
although she sometimes dates Butch the Bulldog as well. She
first appeared in The Sleepwalker July 3, 1942 and later in
Canine Casanova.
Ingrid (mentioned on the left)
also found that there is an airline that flies from Holland to
Thailand. It's called
Tekkel Air.
Tekkel is how you say Dachshund in Dutch! |
In keeping with the booze theme (on the far left), I was
informed
by Katie Spawr that there is a place in Milwaukee that makes
beer. It's called 3 Dachshunds Beer!
Take a
look.

And Katie has also informed me of a Winery in
Milford Ontario called Longdog. To bad they don't put a
Dachshund on their labels!
I
discovered it in night school classroom where I was teaching.
This cover from a workbook made me laugh. It said on the cover,
"Warm & Fuzzy". I'll agree. Wouldn't you?
I discovered an interesting website.
The Hot Dog
Blog. It has photos. videos and a bunch of other stuff. It's
a bit more commercial than mine, but then again I'm not making
any money.
In
early 1900's the Dachshunds in Germany was the inspiration for a
great number of postcards. I like this one. The translated
caption reads: "The day the Dachshund was sick. One from the
1950s uses a
Dachshund to advertise beer.
Knock-Offs of original German Dachshund toys are available at
many traditional toy stores and on-line. I have to say that I'm
a bit disappointed with
this
one, it's not like the one I remember as a kid.
Dachshund checks anyone? Well I found a place that prints
Dachshunds on Checks. You can
order them on-line. Sorry though, There's only available to
our American friends.
