Postcards of dachshunds were very popular in the the early 1900s. Here's quite a few samples for you look at.

A four part Post Card! - Click to view. This one from 1906 comes in four parts. You would mail one piece at a time. There was even one part of a poem on each card. It read:

I send you the head of a Dachshund today,
Wait for the next part, don't throw this away.

Two funny feet towards you trot,
Dear friend, oh please forget me not.

The middle of the animal now I mail,
And soon as possible will add the tail.

This card now makes the dog complete,
It is not intended for sausage meat
.

Surf Dog

I found this artwork on a T-shirt in Playa Del Carmen Mexico. "Surf Dog." I'm assuming it's a Dachshund.

In referring to the 1996 movie "Daylight" with Sylvester Stalone, BeatnikPad.com said:

"Furthermore, Stallone lacks the charisma and populist red neck magnetism needed to make us believe he could lead a group of panicked victims out of the crippled tunnel. With his dachshund eyes and his mouth-full-of-marbles delivery, it seems unlike that he could lead even a pack of tourists out of the Museum of Man and Nature."   Funny what counts as an adjective these days...

A Dachshund by any other name is still a Dachshund! Try these on for a laugh:

Germany: Dackel
Russian: Takca
French:  Le Basset Allemand
Dutch: Dashond
Italian: Bassotto
Spanish: Perro Salchicha

The last one remains my favorite. Translated back into English it's: Sausage Dog! Really!

Trivial matters... Ted Baxter on the Mary Tyler Moore Show had a Dachshund. He bought it for an investment because "...someone told me they were going to be popular."

There's another movie with a Doxie in it. "15 Minutes", stars Robert De Niro and Edward Burns. Ed Burns plays a Fire Marshall who gets involved in a murder investigation. That character has a dachshund. It's dark and  violent movie. Not for everyone.

Dachshunds for Dummies Dachshunds for Dummies! Well believe it! The book by Eve Adamson is now out. And it's one of the most thorough Dachshund books I've ever seen. If you like, you can get it at Amazon.com

Click to see the Big Picture People Magazine shows us the inventiveness of one of its readers in the "Dog Carrier" Ad.

Are Dachshunds really "Hot Dogs"? You bet. A healthy Dachshund has a body temperature of 101.5F (38.6C). Good to know on a cold winter night. They make great Bed Heaters!

Did you know that Jed Clampett from the TV show Beverly Hillbillies was referring to a wiener dog when he yelled, "Wee Doggies"?

October 1941 saw the American Kennel AKC Gazette 1941Gazette picked a Dachshund to gace it's cover.

I also collected a fare number of images of other Dachshund related Nick-Nacks. Take a look.
